Athens Chapter - Focus the Nation - January 31st, 2008!

"Global Warming Solutions for America" ; "Our World, Our Future, Our Choice"

NEW: Sign the Georgia Petition:

On January 31, students and educators around the country aim to Focus the Nation's attention on climate change. As part of this effort, students from Atlanta area colleges and universities will travel to the Georgia capitol to ask that Georgia legislators respond to the threats climate change poses to our state. To show broad-based support for the message that they will deliver, Emory University students have organized a petition drive to collect the signatures of Georgians who want the state to address climate change. If you are a Georgia resident, we encourage you to sign the petition.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue, Ben Gerhardstein

NEW: We need your input and creative talent!

PACE project, performing on January 31st at 1:15-1:45pm at the GA Center Lumpkin Plaza (outdoors), needs your help to complete our dance piece, entitled, “CONNECT”!!!We need individuals to create and submit a facsimile of a “postcard” (as many as you wish to create) that is approximately 5 sentences long, written to the present time, from the future, about global warming. This could be from any point in the future ranging from 10 years to 50 years from now, written to individuals existing here and now- They could be written from anyone or anything- to anyone- written from individuals, from animals, organisms, the earth, whatever – written to “all people”, to politicians, children, to relatives,…. From the future, back to today!

(Please abstain from extreme obscenities or lude commentary)

We will select from these as narrative text for our live improvisational performance. We reserve the right to edit them for length. Thank you! Send your responses and any questions to renghaus@uga.edu! (You can also submit through our Facebook Discussion Board! We will take responses up until Jan 30th.)
